Enhanced Skin Rejuvenation
|
Before After
|
|
Applications: |
Enhanced Skin Rejuvenation treats fine wrinkles and
sun-damaged skin. Patients with photo-damage and
photo-aging often benefit from the procedure.
Specifically addresses: sun damage, wrinkles,
photo-aging, lentigines and facial telangiectasia,
vascular and pigment irregularities. |
|
Descriptions: |
With this process solar lentigines and facial
telangiectasia are treated individually with the Aura
laser. The entire face is "painted" with the Aura. This
is followed by a second pass with the Lyra laser, for
facial toning and the treatment of fine wrinkles. The
Lyra laser is FDA cleared for the treatment of wrinkles. |
|
Treatment End Point |
Solar lentigines may darken following treatment. After
painting technique a slight erythema might be present. |
Expected
Outcome: |
With this procedure patients will typically benefit from
3-8 treatments. Clearing of sun damage such as
lentigines will be evident after the first few
treatments. Wrinkle improvement will be gradual over the
first three months of treatment as new collagen forms,
creating a smoother, younger looking skin. |

A vascular birthmark (nevus) consisting of superficial
and deep dilated capillaries in the skin which produce a
reddish to purplish discoloration of the skin.
|
|
Treatment End Point |
Blanching/graying of the tissue immediately following
laser application. The area should start loosing color
within the next 4 weeks at which point a re-treatment
should be scheduled. |

Telangiectasia |
|
Description: |
Abnormally dilated blood vessels associated with a
number of diseases. Could occur anywhere on the body. |
|
Treatment End Point |
As the laser energy is applied, the vessel will
disappear. Several seconds later it will be replaced
with erythema which will fade within a few days. |
Expected
Outcome: |
Full resolution. May need several treatments to
completely eliminate vessels. Fine matted
telangiectasias are treated like a Rosacea/Port Wine
Stain. |

|
|
Description: |
Abnormally dilated blood vessels associated with a
number of diseases. Could occur anywhere on the face. |
|
Treatment End Point |
As the laser energy is applied, the vessel will
disappear. Several seconds later it will be replaced
with erythema which will fade within a few days.
|
Expected
Outcome: |
Usually takes only one treatment. Improvement is
immediate with continuous enhancement for two weeks. New
vessels may occur, depending on the sun exposure and
heredity. |

Lentigo, Solar Lentigo, Cafe`-au-lait
spots
|

Before
|

After
|
|
Application: |
Lentigo/ pl. Lentigines |
|
Description: |
Flat brown spots that appear because of the accumulation
of lipofuscin (naturally occurring dark brown pigment
soluble in fat) in the tissue unrelated to sun
exposure, often malignant. |
|
Treatment End Point |
Full vaporization with light graying of tissue at
treatment time. The area turns darker within a few hours
and flakes off in about one week. If the pigment is
diffuse or light brown, the end point is not as obvious,
however, the lesion should turn darker and flake off as
normal. |
Expected
Outcome: |
Full resolution. Dark brown lentigines require two or
more treatments. |

Solar lentigo/ Lentigo senilis |
|
Description: |
A skin disorder characterized by flat patches of
increased pigmentation, associated with aging and/or
sun exposure. Although most frequently called 'Age
Spots' or 'Liver Spots', they are unrelated to the
liver or liver function |
|
Treatment End Point |
Full vaporization with light graying of tissue at
treatment time. The area turns darker within a few
hours and flakes off in about one week. If the pigment
is diffuse or light brown, the end point is not as
obvious, however, the lesion should turn darker and
flake off as normal. |

Café-au-lait spot |
|
Description: |
Cafe-au-lait spots are a light tan spot, the color of
coffee with milk. They may be a normal type of
birthmark. The presence of several cafe-au-lait spots
larger than a quarter may occur in neurofibromatosis
(a genetic disorder that causes abnormal cell growth). |
|
Treatment End Point |
Full vaporization with light graying of tissue at
treatment time. The area turns darker within a few
hours and flakes off in about one week. Sometimes the
pigment becomes diffuse or lightens and the end point
is not as obvious, however, the lesion should turn
darker and flake off as normal. |
Expected
Outcome: |
Full resolution. Some spots may require two or more
treatments. |

|
Description: |
A benign skin growth that appears as a small, smooth,
cherry red bump |
|
Treatment End Point |
The tissue will turn dark. The angioma may need to be
have two-three consecutive pulses applied. Should dry up
and fall off in a week or two depending on the size. |

|
Application: |
Rosacea and Matted Telangiectasia |
|
Description: |
A disorder involving chronic inflammation of the cheeks,
nose, chin, forehead, or eyelids; it may cause redness,
vascularity (increased prominence of the blood vessels),
swelling or hyperplasia (increase in size of the
tissue), or skin eruptions similar to acne. |
|
Treatment End Point |
The area will blanch immediately following the laser
application with the following onset of surrounding
erythema. This will fade within a few days. |
Expected
Outcome: |
Usually requires several treatments to completely
eliminate all vessels. |

Shaving (razor) bumps/Pseudo-follicuitis |
|
Description: |
Pseudo-folliculitis (razor bumps) is a common
condition of a closely shaved area which occurs in
people with thick curly hair. The problem results when
highly curly hairs grow back into the skin causing
inflammation and a foreign body reaction. Over time,
this can cause keloidal scarring which looks like hard
bumps. |
|
Treatment End Point |
Perifollicular erythema (reddening around hair shaft)
immediately following laser application. On occasion
this reaction is absent or minimal |
Expected
Outcome: |
Full resolution. Requires multiple (up to 5)
treatments with occasional following maintenance
treatments. |

Red and blue veins/spider veins
on legs
|

Before
|

After
|
|
Application: |
Leg veins (red and blue) |
|
Description: |
Veins that are distended, tortuous / twisted bulging
"ropey" superficial veins of the leg that instead of
conducting blood upward, back to the heart, conduct
blood downward, in a reversed fashion, back to the
foot |
|
Treatment End Point |
Fine veins may blanch, larger veins are thicker and
may blanch or turn grayish and flatten. You should
not see a refill/rebound after the vessel is
depressed. The onset of surrounding erythema and
edema occurs in a few minutes. It is important to
select the right handpieces; smaller superficial
veins require smaller spot size, and larger deeper
veins require a larger spot size. Erythema
(reddening) can last a few days, some smaller
superficial vessels can form a cat scratch scab over
vein patch, and larger veins will take a few weeks
to fade. |
Expected
Outcome: |
Usually takes one to three treatments. Vessels may
take 8 weeks to fade. |
